Meeks is one of the hardest working MC's to come out of Birmingham. I fist came to know about Meeks when he hit me up with the released The Beat Jackers Mixtape and I have to say I was late (very late) But me being the man that I am, I got on my research quick and found a bag full of bangers from the man himself , that was it, I'm a fam. Meeks is one of the coolest MC's that I deal with, he always hits me up with that new shit and The Meeks Tape is still one of my favourite mixtapes to-date. I asked Meeks for an interview and this is how it came out. Check this out.

Tell us what life was like growing up in Birmingham?

The Birmingham community is very small where everybody knows each other. The area which I come from it is like any other ghetto community for example, gun crimes, knife crimes gangs and drugs etc.

What made you fall in love with Hip Hop and made you decide to become a serious MC?

When we were kids my father use to be backwards and forth to America, when he would come back he would bring back music from America. He would also bring back The Vibes Magazine, cassette tapes and films. There were also certain family members that were artists so that was a big influence on us.

Tell us some off the problems you faced in your earlier days?

One of the biggest problems I faced was confrontation with other males the same age as me and school and drugs in the neighbourhood.

Tell us more about S-Squad and what can we expect from the team?

S-Squad is a family group which consists of brothers and cousins. When S-Squad first started it consisted of about 12-14 family members, but as time went by it proved who was actual loyal to the movement but now there is about 6-7 consistent family members. What to expect from the team. You can expect a new mix tape from S-Sqaud as a group coming soon but at the moment everybody is working on their solo projects.

I see you also work with USG a lot. How did that link come about?

Basically my cousin Euro was the first one out of S-Squad to link up with USG back in 2003 and the first S-Squad and USG calibrated.

What have you found to be the best ways to network and get your music heard?

Travelling from city to city to make new links and social networking, music speaks for itself I also found that people reach out to you if they find your music authentic.

How did your cameo in the movie 1Day come about and we see more of Meeks the actor?

I was told to come to the audition which was the audition for my music to be a apart of the film but when they saw me they asked me to audition and then I got the part

In your opinion what do you feel is missing from the game and what can we all do to make it stronger?

I don’t think anything is missing from the game, I just feel that everyone needs to work harder I think that everybody is in the correct lane and I think that me myself needs to work a little harder too. I think the major problem is UNITY

As your no stranger to the game what advice would you give to any young MC looking to get into the game?

Just to work hard and to be consistent and to not confuse the road with the music industry it’s all good making the music but it’s also important to learn the business side to it aswell

What's your plans for after the album drops?

Just to continue what I always do best, whether it’ll be helping people or helping myself and just trying to move forward and keep positive in this game. I don’t like to rush music so I will be working on an album slowly.
